Some architects seemed to delight in creating discord and imbalance while pretending to be advocates of harmony and grandeur. Great straight-lined blocks of brutal solid mass of the sort littering London (and the rest of the UK) during a particular historical period (and many still there!), give me a very bleak feeling. I'm with you on your criticism here. The Tempe Center for the Arts seems profoundly lacking in beauty, soul and certainly Art. <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antoni_Gaud%C3%AD" rel="nofollow">Gaudí</a> will be weeping in his grave. Oh for a bit more of <a href="http://www.greatbuildings.com/buildings/Park_Guell.html" rel="nofollow">this</a>.
