This was my second runner-up for the first-of-the-month theme photo. How many cities turn their street lamps into misters?
In theory, it’s evaporative cooling to help us bear the heat. In reality, it’s an utter waste of precious water, the most valuable substance in the desert.

I have never seen street lamps as misters before…wow…must make those 100 degree + days bearable!!!
Actually, Neva, it doesn’t help much. It makes the air more humid, which holds more heat around you unless there happens to be a breeze. And worse, the mist lands on your glasses and you constantly have to clean them. It’s a nuisance!
