It is Burclover. (California Burclover in my neck of the woods.) It is a weed with little round burrs that get stuck in dogs and cats fur and socks. It is pretty when green with yellow flowers – ugly and stickery when dried and brown. I had an unsightly strip of these in front of the house. I had the strip weed blocked with landscaping material and a mulch put over that - but still a few came through. I just keep pulling them out as soon as I see them re-emerge (thick gloves help). See UC Davis IPM website - they have a Weed Gallery to identify weeds. It is classified as a spreading broadleaf plant. See www.ipm.ucdavis.edu for more information on it.

Does anybody know what these are called? And/or how to treat them? They have completely consumed what used to be our lawn (Living just outside Phoenix).

i just started Chandler Daily photo and I plan to visit your blog often.

I'm glad you found my photo of your sculpture, Erica. I wish I could afford to buy The Seer, but if it's the same price you had listed at the SCC exhibit, I can't afford it. I think it's totally worth that much. I just don't have that much. And if I did, I'd have to put it toward some home repairs ... Sigh.
