Clark Telescope Dome

Inside this dome is the famed Clark Telescope, constructed in the 1800s by a couple of bicycle repair guys from Flagstaff so that Percival Lowell could look for the “canals” on Mars and find the Martians.

Tell me that’s not a meteor in the foreground? If it is, would have been ironic had it hit the telescope. Very nice composition.

Ha ha, no, not a meteor. I believe it’s a bit of lava rock from the area’s extinct volcano(es). There is a lot of lava rock up there.
